math students win competition two years in a row

RCA students are MathCount champions once again

For the second year in a row, the Ron Clark Academy reigns as math champions, having brought home again the 2015 Raytheon MathCounts National Competition Video Challenge win last year. The team, PBSQ, travelled to Boston to compete with students from all across the country in the math competition. PBSQ consists of then-8th-graders Peter Warrick, Jr., Brandon Benn, Shawl Pryor and Quivion Wynn, with math teacher Dr. Camille Jones as the sponsoring teacher.
Their video, entitled The Decision, showed how solving math problems could be fun using the ideas of
basketball and college recruitment.

The MathCounts Math Video Challenge program gives students the opportunity to integrate math with their love for technology to create videos about math problems and their related concepts.
These students are now in high school with Warrick attending Holy Innocents Episcopal School in Atlanta, Benn and Pryor attending the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Wynn attending Beechcroft High School in Ohio. The previous year’s MathCounts winners, also from RCA, were invited to the White House as honored guest for their outstanding achievements in mathematics.
